Prayer partners & church families,

We have lived in Peru for almost 2 months now.  We are currently learning Spanish (not an easy task).  Please continue to be in prayer for us during this time as it can be frustrating not being able to communicate with others.

Also please continue to be in prayer for our funding.  We still need $7000 to reach our goal for the next 2 years.  The funds donated/pledged up to this point are currently not covering our monthly expenses.  We believe God can and will provide for this need, but we ask you to join us in prayer.

It has been an amazing journey so far to watch our faith grow as we surrender to His will.  We feel blessed that God has called us to serve Him and that he is using us to expand His Kingdom.

Thank you for all your prayers.

Jason & Becky Kuhn

Message from Jason & Becky

January 2011

Dear Church Family:

We would like to share with you an exciting opportunity that God has opened up for us.  We have accepted a position with Extreme Nazarene Ministries to serve in Peru for two years.   Becky will be the finance coordinator and Jason will be working in construction. We plan to leave sometime in February.

We believe that ministry is best done through community and that you can be a part of this ministry that is touching lives around the world. Please consider supporting us as a prayer partner in this ministry.  Ask that God would prepare our hearts and provide for our needs. Also pray that God would bless the people with whom we will be serving and that God would use us to further His Kingdom in that place.

In addition to your prayer support, we would like to invite you to consider sharing in our ministry financially. We are serving as volunteer missionaries and will rely on the financial support of others for our ministry and living expenses. Our costs include travel expenses, housing, utilities, food and insurance.  We need “financial partners” to support us over the next 24 months. All contributions are tax deductible.  We invite the church to support us with a love offering and/or monthly donation. Also, we ask the church to provide an opportunity for the congregation to support us in both prayer and finances.

We have included some “Frequently Asked Questions” that provide more information. We would enjoy the opportunity to talk with you about this ministry and answer any questions you might have. Our contact information is listed below.

Thank you for your thoughtful prayers and support. We are grateful for the opportunity the Lord has given us to serve Him in Peru.

Sincerely,

Jason & Becky

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Extreme Nazarene and how is it related to the Church of the Nazarene?
Extreme’s purpose is to seek and deploy people into an extreme expansion of God’s Kingdom. Extreme partners with the Church of the Nazarene to seek out underserved needs within the Church of the Nazarene. Nazarene World Missions oversees Extreme Nazarene Ministries; however, Extreme is not funded by World Missions.

How does Extreme accomplish its purpose?
Extreme uses a unique missionary strategy called 40/40. Extreme trains and deploys pairs of single missionaries. The 40/40 pair will consist of one single Peruvian and one single North American. Their mission is to build relationships with the community and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. They do this through children’s events, Jesus films, medical clinics and door to door evangelism.

What is the vision for Extreme Nazarene Ministries in Peru?
The goal for the next 2 years is to have 40 pairs of missionaries sent out and each pair to plant 3 churches which is a total of 120 church plants in Peru by the end of 2012.

How will the Kuhn’s be involved in this ministry?
Jason will be working in construction. Extreme will be building an office building and apartments for missionaries. Jason will be helping with these projects and building churches in other cities in Peru.
Becky will be the Finance Coordinator for all the Peru projects. She will be doing the accounting and handling the money.

How can you be a part of this ministry?
We need people to partner with us in this ministry both in prayer and finances. We need to raise 100% of our support since our positions are volunteer. In total we need to raise around $75,000, which is just over $3,000 per month for 24 months. We are asking others to partner with us on a monthly basis.  We need 30 partners to give $100 a month or 60 partners to give $50 per month. However, God will bless all contributions received regardless of the amount.

How do you partner with us financially?
